I learned to read the room before I learned to read the board.

I arrived from Albania at ten, not speaking a word of Portuguese. Before I could form a sentence, I already knew who was angry, who was on my side and who was testing me.

Years later I joined the corporate world and recognized the scene. Different language, same game. A code nobody teaches and everybody demands: the right tone in an email, the right moment to speak up in a meeting, what you say and what you swallow.

No one in my family knew that world. I had no older sister to show me how power moves inside a company and what actually makes a career go forward. I learned the hard way. And today I choose to be that sister for whoever comes after me.

I am a Client Experience manager at a Big Four and I lead a tech team. I talk to women at the start and the middle of their careers about behavior, strategic communication and the backstage of consistent growth, with no ready-made formula and no romanticizing the path.

And I also talk about the life that happens around it: the routine, the outfits, the hair, the self-care, the home, the cats. One sustains the other.

Careers aren't built on a shortcut.
